This GIF shows Syracuse University lava project performed on January 22, 2011. The lava temperature at the start of the pour was 1472 degrees celsius. 610lbs of melted dresser trap rock was poured on a sheet of 6 inches thick ice. The lava flows on the ice after which it starts hardening into the rock. It also forms bubbles whose walls are thin and flexible like a wrap. This thing also moves pretty fast so beware of it if you happen to encounter it in real.
